RIM and Verizon have officially released the new BlackBerry Storm 9350. The Storm is the most anticipated BlackBerry ever as it competes directly against the Apple iPhone. Verizon stores around the country drew in massive lines this morning as early as 5:00AM. The Verizon store in Manhattan claims it sold all 60 handsets with in minutes of opening the doors. Customers reportedly “stormed” in at lunch time just to get their hands on the demo so they could get a feel for the new interface. Verizon is keen on regaining lost customers that opted to skip over to the iPhone/AT&T team over the past 2 years. The Storm also features a new SurePress touchscreen keypad with a multi-tap QWERTY layout. The screen has an impressive 480×360 full color crystal clear display. It sports 1GB of on-board memory with the option for expansion through a microSD slot. The device also supports a variety of network options as it is both GSM and CDMA capable (big plus for world travelers). One massive downside is the lack of internal WiFi. Verizon is making it clear that they want you on “The Network” with an additional monthly data plan. You can pick up the Storm now for $199.99 with a 2 year contract (if you can find it). Remember you can cash in your old BlackBerry here at Gazelle to help you weather the Storm.
