These days most digital SLR cameras are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, and though the introduction of rechargeable batteries created a great environmental advantage, there is nothing worse for a photographer then a red flashing battery symbol displaying the minimal life left in their camera.

To solve this problem while keeping things eco-friendly, designer Weng Jie has come up with a solar powered camera strap that enables continual battery recharging whenever exposed to sunlight.  It consists of tiny solar panels that are placed across the width of the strap, with a storage battery built into each end.

Due to the fact the gadget is somewhat of a  concept and still under development, many of the main features remain unclear. It is unknown whether the strap will allow a battery to recharge while inside the camera and while in use. Other modifications are being discussed and it is likely that cameras will have to use some sort of adapter for compatibility purposes.
