Ice Cream Sandwich on just 1% of Android handsets
February 3rd, 2012
The latest figures from the Android dev team show that the new 4.0 version of the Android Operating System “Ice Cream Sandwich” is now running on 1% of Android devices out there. Gingerbread 2.3 remains atop the list at 58.6%, followed by Froyo 2.2 at 27.8%. Google who unveiled the OS last year in December on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone have only implement the OS on this phone and a few Tablets like the new Xoom from Motorola and the Transformer prime from Asus. We can expect a variety of other manufactures to update to the latest version once they can figure out how to make ICS work with their custom Android user interfaces. Being a Samsung Galaxy Nexus owner and an owner of a variety of HTC phones (Sensation XE, Amaze, Desire HD), I would love to see HTC make their Sense UI work with ICS. Until then I guess I am stuck with my good ol’ Galaxy Nexus, its not like I am complaining or anything!
