Becoming a true life Dick Tracy has just been made a tad bit easier thanks to Sony and their new SmartWatch. The device was first unveiled back at CES and I personally got some hands-on time with it back in January. The SmartWatch from Sony will compete against the MotoActv from Motorola and the I’M Watch (also unveiled at CES) by Italian manufacturer I’m Watch. The concept of the device is great as it will allow you monitor your calls, check messages and email, use apps, and use as a speaker phone. In terms of hardware the watch is compact but fits nicely on the wrist. The watch measures 1.42 x 1.42 inches and weighs half an ounce. The OLED display measures 1.3 inches and packs 128 x 128 pixels. It runs Bluetooth 3.0 and works with Android 2.1 and up smartphones. A variety of straps will also be available for the SmartWatch in different colors, with each strap retailing for $20. For all those Android users looking to grab some cool hands-free tech, the SmartWatch will ultimately satisfy your needs. That saying many may find that a $149 accessory maybe a bit overkill just to look like a super spy. The SmartWatch is available via Sony’s online shop here for $149 starting today. Check out the full press release and video below. Enjoy!
