Verizon Wireless to charge $30 fee for upgrades

Verizon has finally jumped on the upgrade bandwagon by charging their loyal customers $30 to upgrade to a new device. Competitors Sprint and AT&T also charge a fee for $36 for upgrading , while T-Mobile only charges $18. Verizon says the fee will be used to “provide customers with the level of service and support they have come to expect which includes Wireless Workshops, online educational tools, and consultations with experts who provide advice and guidance on devices that are more sophisticated than ever.” The news comes just days after AT&T announced it will be unlocking iPhones for free for their loyal customers and U.S Military soldiers. With new phones on the way from HTC, Samsung, and the iPhone 5 come October, Verizon looks to make some extra cash off your gadget addiction.
